English Name : Tuberose
French Name : Tubéreuse
Family : Agavaceae
Origin : India

History and Origin

Originating from Mexico, it has been introduced in Europe and in Asia in the 16th century. Today, the harvests are the most abundant in India.  It can reach 60 centimeters in height and its white flowers, harvested before sunset, are reminiscent of lilac. Tuberose is mostly used in perfumery.

Oil Characteristics : Viscous liquid with a brown-orange colour. Solid at room temperature. Its perfume is unique and sweet, flowery and enchanting.
Properties : Antispasmodic, analgesic, relaxing and dermatologic. Anxiolytic, stabilizing and calming.
Indications : Skin care, muscle tensions, psychological traumas, depression, anxiety.

Energetic and Emotional Effect

Tuberose helps calm anxiety by opening the third-eye chakra. It is calming and relaxing.

Uses

Perfumery

Base note. Tuberose is used in the preparation of famous perfumes like Poison, from Dior brand. 

Cosmetic

To perfume home-made cosmetics for a fine, floral and bewitching scent. This extract is also used as a fixative in making natural perfumes.

Synergy

Blends well with vanilla, benzoin, lemon, bergamot, neroli and petitgrain.

Safety

  • Not known under physiological doses.
