Plant description

Latin Name : Kunzea ambigua
English Name : Kunzea
French Name : Kunzea
Family : Myrtaceae
Origin : Australia

History and Origin

Kunzea is a shrub growing wild in Australia. It can reach up to 5 meters in height and width. Its small flowers are white and soft-looking because of the etamins being longer than the petals and abundant. Early settlers saw that native animals took refuge under this plant to sleep in order to get rid of ticks, hence its name "tick bush". Kunzea is often used as a shelterbelt or to stabilize sand dunes. Traditionally, Kunzea essential oil is used to treat respiratory problems. It is also known to bring courage and to strengthen both body and mind.
