Latin Name : Citrus aurantifolia limetta
English Name : Lime
French Name : Lime or citron vert
Family : Rutaceae
Origin :  Italy

History and Origin

 Lime is the fruit of the lime tree, originally from India or Malaysia and introduced to America by the Portuguese crusaders. It was used by navigators to fight scurvy because of its high content in vitamin C.
