Maple essential oil... Really?
So... did you fall for our famous maple essential oil?
We confess: it was just an April Fool's joke! 😄 Even if this oil doesn't exist, the idea remains true: incorporating natural aromas to make your recipes even more delicious.
To recreate this warm effect, you can use:
- Vanilla: sweet and comforting
- Tonka bean: a subtle blend of almond, caramel, and vanilla
- Orange blossom: delicately floral and fruity
And if you're wondering why there's no maple essential oil, it's simple: maple doesn't produce essential oil.
Essential oils come from volatile aromatic molecules naturally present in certain plants and stored in specific glands or pockets. Maple, on the other hand, stores its energy in the form of sugars, and its aromas mainly develop during cooking thanks to the Maillard reaction, which transforms sugars and amino acids to create these complex aromas. An essential oil, by definition, must be naturally present in the living plant, which is not the case here.
In short, for your pancakes, prefer maple syrup or these natural aromas... a guaranteed delight! 🥞
