History and Origin

Ancient small tree, that would be the result of the hybridisation between the grapefruit and the tangerine, cultivated in countries with hot climate, giving edible fruits: oranges.

The essential oil of blood orange is identical to sweet orange because the botanical species and its chemical composition is the same. The difference between the two is the smell. The blood orange has a divine smell! It is also sweet and fruity, but much more fragrant.
