Shrub from the anacardiaceae family growing in the garrigues and the maquis of the Mediterranean climates. It produces small fruits, first red, then black. Its resin is commonly known as mastic, justifying its nickname of mastic tree. In Antiquity, the resin was used as chewing gum to fight against bad breath.
