Sweet Inule is an automn flowering annual plant from Asia. It is now domesticated and cultivated in the entire world as a medicinal and ornamental plant. There are 13 species in the genus “inula”, including Inula helenium, “Elecampane”. The plant has big oval leaves and yellow daisy-like flowers. The whole plant is aromatic. The oil is extracted from the rhizomes or the flowering tops.
This oil is not well known because of its high cost. However, it is used in aromatherapy since many decades for its strong mucolytic action. It has often been working in case of chronic disease when other mucolytic oils have had no success.
