History and Origin

Euthamia graminifolia is a North American plant species in the Asteraceae family. It is a perennial plant that can grow up to 1 meter in height. The Narrow-leaved goldenrod has very thin narrow leaves and yellow flowers. Its inflorescence is flattened. It was formerly known as Solidago graminifolia. Be careful not to confuse it with the Canadian Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis).

Euthamia graminifolia was used as a medicinal plant by various Indigenous peoples. Some made a decoction of the root to treat chest pain and lung problems. Others made an infusion of the flowers to treat certain types of fevers.
