History and Origin

Pimpinella anisum is a plant from the apiaceae family cultivated as a spice plant for its leaves and seeds. The plant is called anise or aniseed.

Oil Characteristics : Clear liquid with characteristic anise odour.
Properties : Positivant then negativating. Estrogenic effect +++, emmenagogue, facilitate the placental delivery, galactogen (increase the secretion of milk). Neuromuscular antispasmodic (musculotropic), slightly narcotic, psychoactive +++, analgesic. Carminative ++, stomachic, tonic and aperitive (slight increase of the digestive secretions). Cholagogue, choleretic, digestive antispasmodic. Cardiotonic, respiratory tonic. Antiseptic, bactericide, vermifuge. Venous and lymphatic decongestant.
Indications : Amenorrhoea and oligomenorrhoea +++, irregular periods, menstrual pain, premenopause, menopause. Dyspepsia, gastralgia, spasmodic colitis, enteralgy, aerophagia, meteorism, flatulence, indigestion, parasitosis. False angina pectoritis, palpitations, cardiovascular erethism, cardialgia +++. Dyspnea due to nerves, asthma, bronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis, lung congestion. Paralysis, back pain, spasmophilia.
