History and Origin

Lovage is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. Its leaves remind one of celery and its small flowers are yellow. Lovage is cultivated for its therapeutic qualities and as a seasoning in cooking.

Oil Characteristics : Clear and mobile liquid with a pale-yellow colour. Its herbaceous, sweet and peppery smell with green spicy notes reminds of celery.

Uses

Culinary

Lovage leaves and seeds can be used to flavour salads, soups and meat dishes. It is also the base ingredient of "celery salt".

Blends well with rose, lavender, oak moss and bay laurel.
