History and Origin
Vaccinium macrocarpon is a species of the Ericaceae family native to North America. It is an evergreen shrub that grows in humid environments. Its pink flowers appear at the beginning of the summer and give red edible fruits called cranberries or atocas which are harvested in the fall. Taken internally, cranberry seed oil can help increase “good” cholesterol.
