History and Origin
Hemp is a dioecious herbaceous annual plant apparently from Central Asia. It has been naturalized in Central America as well as in Africa, China, India and the Middle East. Low THC varieties are cultivated all around the globe. Seeds and oil came to the market of natural foods in Canada following the adoption, in 1998, of the Industrial Hemp Regulations. The THC content is strictly regulated and verified by Health Canada when hemp is cultivated for commercial or culinary use.
