History and Origin
The prickly pear is a cactus that grows in abundance in the Mediterranean area. It produces a rare and precious oil and should not be confused with the prickly pear macerated oil, less expensive, but also less active. The oil, extracted by cold pressuring the prickly pear seeds, is present at a very low level in the seed (5 %), explaining its high price for a vegetable oil.
