Plant description

Latin Name: Melaleuca cajuputii

History and Origin

The name cajeput means in Malay, "white tree". The explanation is the contrast between the pale color of the trunk and the dark color of the leaves in the most common species. Cajeput oil is obtained from various Melaleuca species, belonging to the Myrtaceae family. A few related species can also be used, mainly Melaleuca cajeputii and latifolia.
