History and Origin

Lovage is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. Its leaves remind one of celery and its small flowers are yellow. Lovage is cultivated for its therapeutic qualities and as a seasoning in cooking.

Uses

Culinary

Lovage leaves and seeds can be used to flavour salads, soups and meat dishes. It is also the base ingredient of "celery salt". 

Synergy

Blends well with Labrador tea, lavender, bergamot and carrot seed.

Safety

  • Photosensitizing.
  • Extented use is not recommended because of its detoxifying effect.
