History and Origin
Originating from Europe, oregano has been very well exported in the Middle East. Oregano was known by peoples in Antiquity for its pronounced taste and its medicinal virtues. It was well-known for 2 of its properties: a protective function but also a love potion. First of all, oregano is a very nice plant, according by its Greek etymology: "oros" and "ganos" which can be translated as "mountain ornament". There are some thirty varieties growing everywhere in Europe.
Oregano Compactum is sometimes called "oregano with compacts inflorescences" because its flowers appear in compacts, fragrant and with a nice pink-red color inflorescences (flower groups).
